Arranging a replacement
Replacement car following an accident which was your fault
If you are unfortunate to be involved in a car accident which was your fault you may be entitled to a free replacement car whilst yours is off the road.
If you have a comprehensive insurance policy with duck2water you should check the terms and conditions of your policy document to see if you are entitled to a free replacement vehicle whilst yours is off the road. Even if you are not automatically entitled to a replacement car, a car may still be available from the body shop whilst your car is being repaired.
Non-fault car accident
If you have been involved in an accident that wasn’t you fault, your duck2water legal expenses insurance may be able to arrange a replacement car. You will need to provide us with the date, time and place of the car accident and a description of how the accident happened. We will also need the name, address, registration number and insurance company of the person who you believe was responsible for causing the car accident.
We will liaise with the insurance company of the person who was responsible for the car accident and once we have received the engineer’s report and they have admitted liability, we will arrange for a replacement car to be delivered to you at a convenient time. This will be an equivalent model to your own. So if you need a six seater car for your large family, a van or a prestige car for your job, that’s what we’ll provide you with. The replacement car will be fully insured and will be paid for by the insurance company of the person who caused the accident.
Even if you don’t have the full details of the person who caused the accident, we may still be able to help. We may be able to trace the other person, through various sources including the police (if they attended the scene of the accident) and the DVLA database. Should the other person be untraceable or uninsured, we may still be able to pursue a claim for personal injury and damage to your vehicle through an organisation called the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), an organisation funded by the insurance industry to assist people who have been involved in a car accident or motorcycle accident with untraced or uninsured drivers.
If you have been involved in a car accident call 0333 123 1308 where an incident manager will record details of the incident and will start work on your claim immediately.
