The Peugeot family have been involved in manufacturing since the early 19th century and before that had established successful mill and weaving businesses. Between 1974 and 1976, Peugeot acquired the majority of shares in Citroen and formed PSA Peugeot-Citroen. Chrysler was bought by the PSA group shortly thereafter, marking a time that threw Peugeot’s identity into question. This was soon resolved with a refined lion logo for the 205.
In the most recent years, Peugeot have had particular European successes. In 2004, the Peugeot 206 was the best-selling car of Belgium and France, whilst the 307 topped the sales charts in Denmark and the Netherlands .
