Cheap car insurance for Volvos

Cheap car insurance for Volvos

Volvo was founded by Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larsson, two Swedes, in 1927. The first car they produced was the Jakob, which became an immediate hit. By 1932, together with another model, over 10,000 Volvos had been produced.

Requests for cheaper cars that were accessible to more of the population came flooding in, and Volvo responded with smaller vehicles with fewer accessories.

In 1944, Volvo revealed the PV444, the first true small Volvo. It was followed by the PV544 and together the two models sold amazing numbers until the mid-1960s.

Safety has always been at the forefront of Volvo’s design and in 1959, Volvo were the first manufacturer worldwide to fit three point seat belts. Following on from this, Volvo developed crumple zones, collapsible steering columns and side collision protection during the 1960s and 1970s, and became internationally recognised as the number one for car safety.

Volvo celebrated breaking the 4 million sales barrier at the end of the 1970s, and throughout the 80s went on to produce some very successful models.

This success has been sustained with the 2004 sales figures showing a good increase on the year before. Current popular models of Volvo include the XC90, S40, S60 and V50.
