Cheap car insurance rate
As important as it is, getting a cheap car insurance rate is not the end of the story for most motorists. Keeping your car in tip top condition can help prevent the need for making a claim, and therefore keep the price from going up when you come to renew. So Duck2Water have put together a quick summary of essential checks you should make on a daily and weekly basis.
Daily checks you should make
- Wheels and tyres – are they still safe and roadworthy?
- Check the brakes before you set out on any journey.
- Check out anything that seems odd – even slightly, such as noises. If you can’t locate the problem, ask a mechanic to take a look.
- Always check your fuel level before setting off. It may seem obvious, but many a ‘breakdown’ is simply due to an empty tank! It’s a good idea to make sure that you’ve always got at least a quarter tank at all times.
Weekly checks you should make
- Tyre pressures and treads. This is essential. Poorly maintained tyres are often responsible for accidents.
- Are the oil and water levels still within an acceptable range?
- Do you have enough screenwash, and are the wiper blades still functional? It’s vital that you can see where you’re going at all times; dirt and dust from roads can obstruct vision even on clear days.
- Finally, you should check that your lights and indicators are working properly.
