Cheap car insurance goes blue-stripe

Tesco has announced that it is offering a blue-stripe cheap car insurance premium that will comprehensively cover drivers for less.

Named "Tesco Value Car Insurance", it is mostly aimed at drivers who want comprehensive motor insurance but can only afford third party and it cuts out some of the features of a classic comprehensive policy to allow drivers to make savings of up to 12%.

Tesco is able to offer such cheap car insurance by removing the option of having a replacement car in the event of an accident, as well as not offering a protected no claims bonus discount. The cheap car insurance is also only available for those over the age of 21 so young drivers will not be benefiting from this move.

Allan Burns of Tesco Car Insurance comments, "We listened to these motorists who wanted low premiums combined with the basic security provided by comprehensive cover in the event of a major claim such as a write-off, but are less worried about claiming for minor bumps and scrapes to their own vehicles."

At only £2 a month more than Tesco third party car insurance but offering more protection, this cheap car insurance deal gives drivers another viable alternative to the traditional policy.
