Eco-friendly policies not always best for cheap car insurance
Direct Line has announced that eco-friendly car insurance policies might not be the best option for drivers looking for cheap car insurance.
A spokesperson for the company, Emma Hoyler, said that for a number of reasons consumers may not actually save any money by getting an environmentally-friendly cheap car insurance policy.
She explained, "With the case of green cars, we see certain types of behaviour from the drivers. For example, because they are ecologically aware they are less likely to make shorter journeys and are also quite socially responsible.
"In our experience, we find that these cars tend to be driven by people in their 30s and 40s who are generally safe drivers."
This dismissal comes in response to a "green" car insurance policy that rival motor insurance company Cooperative Insurance is planning.
Corinne Aldous of duck2water Car Insurance Services comments, "It is always worth getting a quote from a range of companies if you are after really cheap car insurance.
"Even if you feel that you already have a great deal or that one type of policy is ideal for your needs, you may be able to make some more savings through another company."
