Climate-friendly motoring with a new online car insurance UK broker

An eco-friendly UK online car insurance service has been introduced by Climate Care, a company that encourages people to be more aware of the environment and live in a greener world.

A UK online car insurance quote from Climatesure, the branch of Climate Care involved in insurance, estimates the amount of emissions made by a person's use of their car over a year and translates it to a monetary figure. This is then incorporated into their motor insurance policy, though is offset by money saved on advertising so does not cost motorists any more.

The money is used to fund green projects all over the world, such as energy efficient cooking stoves in Bangladesh, energy efficient lighting in South Africa, and saving the habitat of the tigers in India. This effectively offsets the carbon that has been emitted from driving, making that motorist "climate-neutral".

AXA is supporting the climate-friendly company in its travel insurance venture, which runs on the same premise as its UK online car insurance. The distribution director of AXA, Mark Cliff, commented:

"The insurance industry has really started to see the effects of climate change. The core concept of insurance is protection against risk, so it makes sense that as an industry we should be helping to protect the planet and reduce the risk of climate change. We all have responsibility to be part of the solution and we see being part of Climatesure as a step in the right direction."
