Online car insurance broker found to be unauthorised
A warning has been issued to consumers following the discovery that an online car insurance broker was not authorised to trade.
Double Easy Brokers, which operated under the name of Eeasybrokers, set up on an online car insurance site and was selling policies to consumers across the UK, despite the fact it was unauthorised.
Drivers in Southampton, Leeds and Cardiff are known to have bought the cheap car insurance policies, which Double Easy Brokers falsely claimed were underwritten by Zurich Insurance.
Those who got an online car insurance deal with Double Easy Brokers have been warned that their policies are invalid and that they should find an alternative arrangement as soon as possible because they are driving illegally.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA), which was informed of the unauthorised company by Zurich Insurance and the easyGroup, has issued a plea to motorists to check their policy if they believe it to be bought from Double Easy Brokers. Any drivers unsure whether their cheap motor insurance policy is valid should call the FSA on 0845 606 1234.
