Driver could lose getting cheap online car insurance
A man with a history of driving offences has been sent to jail after being chased and arrested by Merseyside Chief Constable Bernard Hogan-Howe.
Michael Smith from Broadgreen, Liverpool, may find it difficult to get affordable online car insurance in the future after being sent to jail for four months.
The 41-year-old was caught driving a Ford Sierra through a red light by Mr Hogan-Howe who was travelling in his Jaguar X-type on 15th August.
The Chief Constable told his driver to put the car's siren and blue lights on in an attempt to pull the driver over. Smith ran from the police after stopping the car but was tackled to the ground 800 yards away.
Smith pleaded guilty at Liverpool Magistrates' Court after it was heard that he had been driving whilst disqualified with no vehicle insurance.
After he had already been convicted 17 times for driving whilst disqualified, Smith could find it very difficult to get cheap online car insurance in the future and will have to phone around for the best motor insurance quotes available.
