Drivers encouraged to search for cheap car insurance

There are an estimated 26 million cars on the road in Britain, and that means every day tens of thousands of people face the headache of deciding which car insurance policy is best for them.

According to research, many drivers don't bother checking out alternatives to the cover that they have already got, meaning they could be risking wasting money on a policy that doesn't offer them value for money.

Consumer magazine, Which, has revealed that the average UK motorist pays around £500 a year for their motor insurance cover, but a staggering 25% of all drivers fail to get alternative quotes before they renew their policy.

Emma Hoyler from Direct Line explained why it's so important to check out what offers are available, saying, "Car insurance takes into account a wide range of factors, including where you live, the car you drive and your driving history. Prices can vary greatly so it's really worth shopping around.

"Also, it's worth bearing in mind that many insurers offer discounts for shopping online, so you could save extra simply by buying via the internet."

A spokeswoman from Duck2Water Car Insurance Services, the cheap car insurance experts, commented, "It might not be the most fun thing in the world, but it really is worth sitting down in front of the computer for a couple of minutes to search the net and find the best motor insurance deal for you."
