Frozen squirrel threat revealed

Norwich Union have revealed some of the bizarre claims that motor insurance companies receive, and have gone as far as compiling a list of the strangest stories that their customers have told over the past twelve months. • "A frozen squirrel fell out of a tree and crashed through the windscreen on to the passenger seat."

• "A herd of cows licked my car and caused damage to the paintwork."

• "I couldn’t brake because a potato was lodged behind my brake."

• "The car was parked when a reindeer fell on the bonnet of my car."

• "A zebra collided with my car when I was at a safari park."

• "While I was waiting at traffic lights, a wasp went down my trouser leg which made me hit the accelerator and prang the car in front."

• "As I was driving round a bend, one of the doors opened and a frozen kebab flew out, hitting and damaging a passing car."

Rebecca Pearson, spokeswoman for Duck2Water Car Insurance Services, specialists in providing cheap car insurance, commented on Norwich Union's revelation, saying, "We also hear a lot of weird and wonderful stories from our customers, but I'm surprised at how many of these involved food and animals.

"I guess it just goes to show how important it is to be aware of what's happening around you whilst you're driving."
