Dundee declared nation’s most car-friendly city
Dundee has been named as the United Kingdom's most car-friendly city following an investigation by Virgin Money Car Insurance.
The motor insurance firm surveyed the country's 50 biggest cities and looked at features of car ownership including the cost of parking, the number of speed cameras, the price of car insurance and petrol costs.
Dundee came out on top, but at the other end of the scale was Cardiff, officially named by Virgin as the nation's most car-unfriendly city. Its lowly position has been blamed on the staggeringly high rates of car crime that exist in the Welsh capital.
A Virgin Money Car Insurance spokesman said, "Driving can be frustrating and expensive whether it is a case of struggling to find a car park or struggling to pay for the car park with the cost of petrol, speed camera fines and the threat of vehicle crime thrown in"
Corrine Aldous from Duck2Water Car Insurance Services, the cheap car insurance experts, commented, "Even if you do live in one of the cities that hasn't fared too well in this survey, you could still get a cheap car insurance deal if you log onto the net and buy your policy from a dedicated online provider."
