Kids in car means cheap car insurance for parents
A cheap car insurance provider has found that having children in the car makes parents better drivers.
A survey conducted by Privilege found that mums and dads will drive more safely if they have their kids in the car for a number of reasons. The overriding reason given was to ensure the safety of the children, although many parents felt that they also drove better in order to set a good example.
The company, who specialise in cheap car insurance for safer drivers, found that 53% of parents have broken the speed limit with their children in the car in the last five years. This is significantly less than for the general driving population, of whom 77% admit to speeding.
The motor insurance provider also found that parents were less likely to take their eyes off the road or lose concentration when driving with their children in the car. Overall, travelling in the car with kids means that drivers are 50% less likely to have a car accident or break the law.
Corrine Aldous of Duck2water Car Insurance Services comments, "This is a welcome finding and it is heartening to know that parents alter their driving habits to keep their children safe and sound.
"Parents who drive safely and within the speed limit benefit financially too. They don't have to worry about speeding tickets and will get a cheap car insurance deal if they maintain their no claims bonus."
