Convicted driver could lose out on cheap car insurance quote

A man who was caught drink driving after taking a car without permission has been banned from the road for 20 months.

Richard Jason Fletcher was stopped by police and breathalysed in Preston on 10th April and found to be more than twice over the legal drink limit. In the future, he may find it difficult getting a cheap car insurance quote because of his convictions.

Preston Magistrates' Court found Mr Fletcher guilty of taking the Ford Escort without consent, driving over the limit, having Class C drugs in his system and having no motor insurance or MOT certificate.

Fletcher admitted to possession of the Class C drug and admitted to another charge of failing to appear in court.

He was sentenced to complete 40 days community work, ordered to wear an electronic tag between the hours of 10pm and 8am and was banned for 20 months from driving.

Corrine Aldous, a spokeswoman for Duck2Water Car insurance Services, the expert car insurance provider, said, "Anyone convicted of driving without vehicle insurance w ill find it difficult to get a cheap car insurance quote in the future,"
