Actor could have expensive car insurance quotes in the future

The Hollywood actor, Mel Gibson faces the possibility of spending six months in prison after allegedly being caught drink driving in California.

The 50-year-old actor and director of the controversial Passion of the Christ was seen speeding along the Pacific Coast highway by a Sheriff's deputy.

Gibson was said to have also been found with an open bottle of alcohol in his car and reportedly had an anti-Semitic rant when pulled over by the officer. He later apologised for his comments and has offered to meet with Jewish leaders to make amends.

As a result of his suspected behaviour, ABC has already pulled a programme on the Holocaust that Gibson was producing.

According to Los Angeles County County Districts Attorney's spokeswoman, Sandi Gibbons, the actor has been scheduled for his first appearance before the judge on 28 September. If later convicted, Gibson could be sentenced to six months in prison and could possibly face paying expensive motor insurance.

Drink driving sparks a number of car insurance claims from accidents caused by drunk drivers. If Gibson was to be convicted, he may find it difficult to get a good car insurance quote in the future.
