Man on parole could find it difficult getting cheap car insurance quote
A convicted offender has been jailed for three months for driving without car insurance whilst disqualified, only a day after being released on parole.
Carl Gibbons, 20, of Macclesfield, had been released on parole after serving nearly eight months of his 15-month jail sentence for having intimate relations with a 14-year-old girl.
The day after his release on 4th August, Gibbons crashed the car his grandfather had bought him as a birthday present into a garden wall. He was later discovered to be driving without a licence or motor insurance.
In the future, Gibbons may find it difficult getting an affordable car insurance quote because of his criminal history.
As Gibbons crashed into the wall, the owner of the house in Kendal Road was a woken by the loud bang and telephoned police after watching the red Vauxhall Cavalier drive off.
At Macclesfield Magistrates' Court, Gibbons pleaded guilty to diving whilst disqualified, driving without motor insurance and failing to stop after a road accident.
Gibbons was sentenced for three months and banned from driving for a further year.
A spokesperson for Duck2Water Car Insurance Services, the cheap motor insurance provider said, "Anybody who is caught driving without a licence and vehicle insurance may find it difficult getting a cheap car insurance quote in the future."
