Prince Naseem could lose cheap car insurance in the future

The former world boxing champion Prince Naseem Hamed has left jail after serving just 16 weeks of a 15-month sentence for dangerous driving.

The 32-year-old shouldn't have to worry too much about losing his cheap car insurance in the future after being collected from Moorland prison in Doncaster by family driving a silver Rolls-Royce and stretched Range Rover.

In May last year, Hamed was driving his £320,000 Mercedes at 90mph as he approached a dip in the road near the Peak District.

Driving on the wrong side of the carriageway, Hamed crashed into a Volkswagen Golf which was being driven by 38-year-old Anthony Burgin, who along with his wife, suffered personal injuries in the road accident.

Mr Burgin said, "I understand that outside prison he was met by his family and friends in a Rolls-Royce and a stretched limo. Given the seriousness of my injuries I found this insensitive and disrespectful."

Hamed, who now has to wear an electronic tag, said, "My heart goes out to the victims, obviously, Mr Burgin and his family. It's been hard, but thank God nobody died."

In the future, the former boxer could find it difficult to get cheap car insurance and will have to search online for the best motor insurance quote available to him.
