Owners of small cars are less likely to make a claim on their
cheap car insurance

A new study has found that the smaller a car is, the less likely it is to be involved in an accident.

The new research demonstrates why owners of a small car will pay cheap car insurance on their vehicles compared to drivers of larger vehicles.

The Vauxhall Nova is statistically the least likely to be involved in a car accident with only 8% of people making a claim on their cheap car insurance.

Other vehicles with low insurance claims include the Fiat Cinquecento, Rover Metro, Peugeot 205 and Peugeot 106.

Vehicles such as the Alfa Romeo and BMW had the highest number of car insurance claims, which would explain why cheap motor insurance is not available for its customers.

A research spokesman said, "It's fair to say that luxury and executive cars have among the highest accident rates because they are used for long-distance travel."
