Tabloids report George Michael hit-and-run incident

Pop star George Michael could be about to lose his right to a cheap car insurance deal if national tabloid reports turn out to be true.

The 42-year old former Wham singer is alleged to have wrecked several parked cars near his London home on the morning of Easter Sunday, before fleeing the scene in his Range Rover.

According to reports, neighbours rushed outside after hearing a loud crash, and were greeted by the sight of George at the seat of his 4x4 staring at a dented grey Ford Fiesta. He is then said to have driven off but hit the rear of a Peugeot 204, shunting it into the back of a third stationary vehicle.

Eyewitnesses in Highgate, North London, claim the hit artist then drove away without reporting the incident to police or even exchanging motor insurance details with the owners of the damaged cars.

Failure to report an accident carries a maximum jail term of six months, and anyone convicted of the crime is likely to lose their chance of getting a cheap car insurance deal.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said, "A representative of the registered owner of the vehicle attended a north London police station today to notify police of the incident.

"An appointment has been made to speak to the registered owner in due course."
