Tank driver may have to pay for higher car insurance quote
A speeding tank driver has been given a four month ban from driving after recently returning from serving in Iraq.
William Buchan, 22, from Edinburgh may find it difficult to get a cheap car insurance quote in the future after he admitted driving his car at 118 mph on 29th May on the M90.
Buchan was given a four month ban by Perth Sheriff Court and was ordered to pay a £160 fine.
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guard told the court that he was over-excited about returning home from Iraq and that a ban would stop him from being able to drive a tank when he serves abroad.
Sheriff William Gilchrist said, "It is a very high speed and I have no alternative but to impose disqualification."
With a ban for driving, Buchan may risk losing his cheap car insurance in the future and could face paying higher premiums the next time he has a car insurance quote.
