Cheap car insurance company announces Canadian call centre

The cheap car insurance company Admiral has announced that it is setting up a call centre in Canada.

The Halifax-based operation will work alongside Admiral's other call centre, which is based in India, to offer customer service outside usual working hours in the UK.

It is believed that by 2008 the call centre will be handling calls relating to customers who have bought cheap car insurance with the Admiral brand. However, it is unknown whether Admiral's other motor insurance product brands, such as Diamond and elephant.co.uk, will also be supported.

The motor insurance firm revealed that it has made the decision to locate some of its customer service in Canada thanks to its reputation for excellent customer service.

A spokesperson for Admiral said: "We've had some great feedback from our British policyholders who have commented on the friendliness and helpfulness of the people they have spoken to.

"We now want to attract the best candidates in the Halifax area for our new, permanent operation, which will open in the summer."
