Motorists urged to preserve cheap car insurance by checking oil
A survey by a car care business has highlighted how some people may be putting their cheap car insurance rates at risk by not getting clued up on oil.
Comma found that a third of motorists were not checking their oil properly, something which could potentially cause very expensive damage to their engines.
29% of those interviewed admitted that they did not know that they should check their oil while on a level and even more shockingly, 71% said that they were unaware of the importance of selecting the right grade of oil for their engine.
Following these results, Comma issued an encouragement to motorists to check their oil, tyres, bulbs and fluids on a weekly basis.
Corrine Aldous, from the cheap car insurance company duck2water Car Insurance Services, commented: "It only takes a few minutes each week to carry out maintenance on your car.
"It is well worth doing so, as these simple checks could mean you avoid a claim on your motor insurance policy for a costly repair."
