Collision with goose spells end of cheap car insurance
One cheap car insurance company is probably dealing with one of its most unusual claims following a high speed collision with a goose.
A Skoda, driven by a 64-year-old man, was travelling down the M5 at 70mph when a goose crashed through the windscreen.
Fortunately the motorist was able to guide the car to safety and avoid an accident as it was on the passenger's side.
However, this wasn't such good news for the 25-year-old passenger.
The passenger said: "One minute we were chatting and the next I saw this huge bird plummeting down.
"I just closed my eyes and braced myself - I heard a loud smash and felt a massive slap which knocked my head back. I was covered head to toe in blood, feathers and glass."
Despite the enormous force of the collision, he was not badly injured and was released after visiting the hospital for a check up.
The young man remains cautious about getting in a car again, saying: "The chances of it happening again are millions to one - but then what was the chance of it happening in the first place?"
Corrine Aldous, spokesperson for the cheap car insurance firm duck2water Car Insurance Services, commented: "It is likely that the driver is going to have to turn to his motor insurance company after this freak accident.
"However, it is fortunate that neither him nor his passenger were injured in the collision."
