Aquaplaning poses cheap car insurance risk
Motorists have been urged by TyreSafe to protect themselves and their cheap car insurance by ensuring that their tyres are in good condition, especially in the rainy weather.
TyreSafe, an organisation set up to promote better tyre safety, is encouraging motorists to check their tyres regularly for wear and tear, as well as other defects, and ensure that they are of the correct pressure.
According to the organisation, the wet summer that the UK has been experiencing in 2007 has created some of the worst conditions for aquaplaning; a loss of control which occurs when the tyre cannot get a grip on the road due to surface water.
A spokesperson for duck2water Car Insurance Services said: "Unfortunately, aquaplaning is behind many a lost cheap car insurance premium.
"We would echo TyreSafe's advice by recommending that motorists protect their motor insurance by paying close attention to the state of their tyres and driving carefully in adverse weather conditions."
