Drivers better at searching out cheap car insurance quotes than new car deals
Whilst many drivers are happy to go to all sorts of lengths in order to get a cheap car insurance quote, research has shown that thousands aren't so savvy when it comes to getting money off when buying a new car.
Sainsbury's Bank has revealed that around 380,000 drivers will shy away from haggling with a dealer in 2007, missing out on a total of £612 million in possible savings.
However, it appears that more than half of drivers are willing to get into the spirit of the bartering, with 55% telling the UK motor insurance company that they would haggle aggressively to get the deal they were after.
A spokesperson for Sainsbury's Bank said: "Once you have decided which new car you want, you then need to be prepared to haggle over the price you pay and if you are financing the purchase with a loan, you also need to make sure that you shop around to find the right option for you."
Corrine Aldous from duck2water Car Insurance Services added: "Of course, once after that process is complete, you can't forget to search around for a cheap car insurance quote - you may even find your haggling skills come in useful here too."
