Aston Martin back in UK hands

Whilst not being known for their ability to get cheap motor insurance quotes, Aston Martins hold a place close to the heart of many British drivers. The news that the American giant Ford has now sold Aston Martin back to a British consortium will thus be very well received in the UK.

Ford sold the prestigious brand for £479m to a consortium led by Dave Richards, a man who has been likened to the "Richard Branson of motorsport."

Mr Richards commented: "This is an incredible opportunity - Aston Martin is one of the world's most iconic brands.

"We are confident we now have all the right ingredients to take Aston Martin to event greater heights."

James Bond is one of the biggest reasons behind Aston Martin's legendary reputation, with the 007-Aston Martin partnership lasting for more than 40 years.

However, the number of people who can actually afford to own one of these fabulous cars is somewhat limited. Although those who can afford the initial outlay (price tags start from £80,000) will undoubtedly be able to manage rather costly motor insurance quotes, the prices quoted by some car insurance companies might cause a few double takes.
