UK car insurance news - Swinton to offer motor insurance quotes for grey imports

Swinton is to launch Swinton Specialist, a division that deals specifically with offering cheap motor insurance quotes to drivers who own grey imports.

More and more people are purchasing imports such as the Nissan Skyline, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Supra and the Ford Mustang with origins in Japan and the USA.

According to Swinton, there has been an 18% rise in motor insurance quotes for grey imports such as these in the last year.

A spokesperson for the car insurance company said: "We continue to see growing interest from the younger end of the market, where customers have high disposable incomes and credit is easily obtainable.

"Grey imports lend themselves excellently to this market, especially when prices can start for as little as £2,000.

"We also believe that high house prices have barred many twenty-somethings from getting on the property ladder, meaning their money is freed up to spend on nice cars. Importing is now extremely popular as it offers excellent value for stylish, individual machines."
