Car insurance quote rates increase due to reckless driving
Reportedly, motorists in the UK are paying less attention to red lights than ever before. This could have disastrous consequences for their car insurance quotes as a new survey has shown that 278 red lights are run every minute in Great Britain.
A leading car insurance company conducted the survey, coming up with some results which unfortunately do not cast British motorists in a favourable light.
Nearly one in ten motorists do not slow down when they approach a traffic light and see it turn to amber. In fact, the survey found that 4% of drivers, which is approximately 1.5 million people, admit to getting a thrill from increasing their speed and trying to run through the light before it becomes red.
Further statistics to come from the analysis are that 5.2 million road users decide to drive through a red light every single month. Moreover, 760,000 will apparently make the decision to drive through a red light if they have decided for themselves that the road is clear and that there is no present danger.
As a result of this reckless behaviour at traffic lights, UK drivers risk having 36 million points put on their licence, as well as fixed penalty notices which total over £721 million, every month.
Behaving in a careless and inconsiderate way while behind the wheel could cause an accident, motoring conviction and lead to an increase in the cost of a motorist's car insurance quote.
