Accountants reveal 2006 cheap car insurance trend
Research has revealed that 2006 was the year of the cheap car insurance quote, with average motor insurance premiums ending the year £10 cheaper than at the beginning.
The accounting firm Deloitte, which has been looking into a number of aspects of the car insurance industry, also found that the cost of personal injury claims had increased by 10% and car repairs went up by 6% in 2006.
The researchers believe that the main reason for such cheap car insurance policies is that of competition amongst the many motor insurance companies in the UK market.
Nicola Tratos, a spokesperson for Deloitte, also explained the particular importance of online car insurance firms.
She said: "The growth of websites is making it easier for drivers to shop around for their car insurance. The falling rates are good news for drivers but perhaps not for insurers."
