Online car insurance firm offers travel advice

An online car insurance company is advising motorists to prepare before setting out on busy roads.

Esure estimates that UK motorists will experience average delays of around 45 minutes when travelling by road on a bank holiday, whilst those who take the train face an extra 1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting around.

A spokesperson for the online car insurance provider said: "Both people and engines' temperatures often rise in traffic jams causing emotional and mechanical breakdowns en route.

"Drivers should check their vehicle before setting off, fill up with fuel and meticulously plan their routes with plenty of contingencies - taking along water, food, a map and a mobile phone at the very least."

He also advised motorists to be covered by comprehensive motor insurance and breakdown cover in case anything goes wrong on the journey.
