Court case about BMW car insurance scam

BMW car insurance scam allegations were at the centre of a court trial where a mother was accused of engineering a vehicle shunt to make a £7000-plus claim on a car insurance policy.

It was alleged that a woman committed fraud with her partner - the owner of a garage in Keighley - by inventing a crash to make an illegal claim from an insurance firm.

The man was accused of masterminding a so-called crash-for-cash insurance swindle - but he denied the allegations. He said he had never corrupted others to make dishonest insurance claims.

The court heard that three other defendants in the case have admitted to their part in an insurance fraud over invented road accidents with police also cautioning several others who had been involved.

The woman said she made a genuine claim on her BMW car insurance after a smash involving her BMW and a Nissan in 2006. She denied criminal charges over the incident.
