Drinkers told not to risk motor insurance quotes by driving under the influence
A campaign named "Drink or drive - you decide" is informing motorists that choosing public transport after a night out could keep both them and their motor insurance quotes safe.
The charity Drinkaware has launched the campaign as part of its aim of raising awareness of alcohol-related issues.
It warns motorists of the penalties given to those caught drink driving, such as the loss of cheap motor insurance quotes and having a criminal conviction.
The campaign targets drinkers using a variety of formats, including beer mats, posters and window stickers which encourage the use of public transport.
Kate Winstanley of the Drinkaware campaign said: "The vast majority of motorists know the dangers and obey the law - but a minority of irresponsible and reckless drivers are ignoring it.
"If you are planning on drinking when you go out, leave the car at home, and if you can't use public transport, designate a non-drinking driver."
It is estimated that over 100,000 motorists lose their cheap car insurance deals each year after being caught drink driving on the UK's roads.
