Motor industry says to buy new and used cars now
Car insurance customers looking for a new vehicle in the current economic climate have been advised to buy now to secure good deals.
While car sales dropped more than 30 per cent this March compared to the same time last year, advice from the motor industry is to look out for bargains and snap them up.
And to give a further boost to the industry, the RMIF (Retail Motor Industry Federation) is pressing for a new scheme that would see more cars scrapped in future.
Sue Robinson, director at the RMIF's National Franchised Dealers Association, said, "Consumers will look to new cars again, given the right impetus, and the RMIF is continuing to lobby for the scrappage scheme which could help revive car sales and remove high-polluting cars from the road."
The RMIF is planning to provide the UK government with a framework document that describes how vehicle scrapping could work in this country, similar to schemes running across Europe.
All motorists, including many consumers looking to trade in vehicles for ones with cheaper car insurance rates, would benefit from the scheme that would help replace older vehicles on the road with new, cleaner, eco-friendlier cars.
