Supercar smash equals record insurer bill

A car insurance company has been left facing the biggest car insurance claim in its history following a crash involving a Pagani Zonda S, one of the world's most expensive supercars.

"This is the biggest insurance payout we have had for repairs to a private car in the UK," said a spokesperson with the car insurance company.

The motor vehicle, which would cost around £500,000 to buy, requires repairs totaling more than £300,000.

Although the Zonda is owned by a multi-millionaire Scottish businessman, he was not driving at the time of the incident, which has provoked an outbreak of internet rumours about who was driving, with some speculating that the driver was ex F1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart.

However, this rumour has been quashed. "Sir Jackie wasn't in the country. He's never driven the car and doesn't know the owner," said a spokesperson.

"This is out of the ordinary for an insurer," confirmed the car insurance company.
