Cheap car insurance firm finds pop to be favourite de-stressing music
A cheap car insurance company has found that drivers who want to de-stress on the roads are most likely to listen to chart pop than any other kind of music.
Following research that showed stress is one of the most common health concerns of people in the UK, Legal & General looked further into the stress-busting techniques that we use.
77% of the people surveyed by the cheap car insurance firm agreed that listening to music reduced their stress levels. However, that is about all they agreed on since their tastes in music varied tremendously.
Chart pop came in top, with 18% of respondents voting it their favourite type of music to relax to. However, it was very closely followed by classic music at 17%, the soothing benefits of which were most appreciated by men.
Classic rock, alternative and soul music were the other entrants in the top five stress-relieving music chart, gaining 12%, 11% and 10% of the votes.
Corrine Aldous of duck2water Car Insurance Services commented: "Being stressed increases your chances of having a car accident, which could put up the cost of your motor insurance premium.
"So next time you are stressed out on the roads, protect your cheap car insurance deal by turning on the stereo and chilling out to your favourite song."
