Switch car insurers more often to save money
British car owners tend to change vehicles more often than their motor cover despite financial experts' recommendations to save money by switching car insurance regularly.
UK drivers own an average of nine cars during their motoring career although about a million motorists - 19% of the vehicle-owning population - were found to own more than 19 cars in their lifetimes.
About 15% of drivers stayed with the same insurance company for more than five years while 18% changed their car more often, according to research by retail giant Tesco.
Failing to check policy premium prices against other insurers can mean motorists pay much more than they need to for the cover they require.
"Personal circumstances, age and driving experience change over time so money can be saved shopping around," said a duck2water cheap car insurance spokesman.
