Customer learns his vehicle was ruined by car wash manager

A football agent was reportedly outraged after his vehicle was returned to him on the back of a recovery truck by a car wash manager. Unleaded fuel had been put into his diesel-only tank, a mistake which many new driver car insurance holders may make, meaning that the price of his next car insurance quote may be increased if he claims for the damage.

The driver had left the vehicle at a car wash in Kent, but when he returned several hours later to retrieve it he was told by a member of staff that the manager had needed to use the motor to go to the hospital, due to an emergency, and had promised to return as quickly as possible.

Upon the manager's return, with the car loaded onto a recovery vehicle, he apologised to the customer saying that the car had started to pump out black smoke on the journey back.

The motorist was then told to leave the car at the car wash overnight where they would repair it free of charge, however the next day he discovered that the mechanic the car wash had found to undertake the job seemed unsure of what he was doing.

The football agent decided the best course of action was to take the car to another mechanic, who told him that the engine was completely ruined as the vehicle had been driven for too long with the wrong fuel.

Since the damage to the car was not caused by the owner, his insurance company is now suing the car wash owners for repair costs.

In order to avoid increased car insurance quotes motorists should always make sure that any establishment chosen to undertake work on their vehicle is reputable.
