Car insurance quotes and spy-in-the-box

Getting a cheap car insurance quote for drivers under the age of 25, no matter how responsible they are, seems to be nigh on impossible. However, this may all be about to change with the introduction of new technology sometimes known as "spy-in-the-box".

This sophisticated technology is able to measure the driver's average speed as well as their braking and acceleration habits. The device is also able to collect data on what time of day they normally drive, so as to give a more accurate report of what kind of driver they are.

Despite this technology seeming quite advanced, spy-in-the-box is not as new as drivers might think. A well-known insurance company actually trialled the technology several years ago but the project was aborted due to high equipment costs. Now though, the technology has been tweaked, and has become far more complex, as well as more affordable.

This has prompted the interest of a number of insurance companies, such as duck2water, who are looking to lower the insurance premiums for young responsible drivers.

In the last six months certain circumstances have shown the cost of covering a car for drivers under the age of 25 rose by 50%. These young drivers have had to endure the brunt of car insurance increases due to nothing more than their age and crash statistics.

Spy-in-the-box technology could mean getting a cheaper car insurance quote for young drivers, since it has now been reported that some UK car insurance companies are showing a keen interest in using the new technology.
