Car insurance quotes and driving too slowly
Drivers in the market for a car insurance quote may be interested to know that motorists who drive too slowly are just as dangerous as the ones who break the speed limit.
Comparison website Confused.com has conducted some research into what irritates UK road users and what incidences cause the most traffic accidents.
Reportedly, more than half of drivers experience heightened stress levels when they find themselves behind a vehicle moving slower than other drivers on the highway.
As a result of their irritation, 45% of motorists will overtake the slower driver which increases their chances of suffering a car crash.
The Department for Transport has revealed that 143 accidents are caused directly by slow road users every year.
Although some parts of the UK highways have minimum speed signs, these are not widely used and one initiative being pushed for by many British drivers is the idea of "slow speed cameras", which would work in a similar way to speed cameras but instead fines would be issued to motorists driving too slowly.
The Head of Car Insurance at Confused.com stated, "Slow drivers need to be taken as seriously as motorists caught speeding. Findings confirm they are a constant source of anxiety on UK roads and responsible for a large amount of accidents each year."
Drivers who wish to continue receiving cheap car insurance quotes should keep within the speed limit but also be careful not to drive too slowly for the type of road they are travelling on, since both of these scenarios could cause an accident.
