Quotes cheapest in Scotland according to research

In the UK it has been revealed that motorists living in Scotland find the best deals and affordable car insurance quotes according to new figures published.

A price comparison website found that many premiums in Scotland were reduced in price last year compared with a 4.9% increase everywhere else in the country.

Data from the AA shows that premiums charged in Scotland are in fact the lowest in Britain, with the average being around £593 and the lowest in England being approximately £150 more expensive.

In the most expensive car insurance area of Britain, around Manchester and Liverpool, drivers have to pay double the Scottish average for their car insurance premium.

An AA Insurance Services spokesman stated, "Premiums in Scotland are generally lower than the rest of the UK, largely because of the different legal system, which discourages personal injury claims.

"There is not quite the same claims culture north of the border that there is south of it. There doesn't tend to be the ambulance chasing personal-injury claims lawyers."

The car insurance comparison website research did find that in fact seven out of ten locations for cheap car insurance were located in Scotland, making it a favourable destination for finding a good deal on motor cover.
