Entrepreneurs make it possible to donate and save
Two businessmen from Stoke have made it possible for motorists to save on their car insurance and give to charity at the same time. Dan Handforth and Mark Fenton have promised to donate 50% of the turnover from their new venture to a charity of the customer's choice.
The partners have launched an online insurance and office supply company, donatesomeback.com which allows customers to make a donation to their favourite charity or not-for-profit organisation every time they buy something
Donatesomeback sells goods and services on behalf of two companies and receives commission for the business it creates. When customers buy a car insurance policy from the website, up to £25 goes to one of the 150 charities registered with the site. If a customer wishes to donate to a charity not already on the site, they can contact the firm to get it signed up.
Having both worked at a national children's charity, Mr Handforth and Mr Fenton say the website is designed to make it easier for people to donate money during the recession.
"During a recession, one of the first things people cut back on is donations to good causes. But all these charities and non-profit organisations still need money" said Mr Fenton.
Despite the company's charitable side, they are still offering competitive rates on car insurance- one customer saved £70 on her car insurance and raised £24.98 for ChildLine
