Cost of cover affected by rise of frost jacking in winter
With the cold weather settling there are plenty of hazardous conditions on the roads which could potentially cause the cost of motorists' cheap car insurance to rise, however, there are also certain crimes which increase in frequency in the winter.
For example, ‘frost jackings' have been occurring more often recently. It happens when a motorist has left their car running in order to de-ice it and left the keys in the ignition so a thief is able to make an easy getaway.
A vehicle recovery specialist has revealed that in the UK a vehicle is stolen every five minutes and 84% of them are taken with the owner's car keys. This means that a road user leaving their car unattended on a cold morning could end up costing them a lot of money.
What many drivers fail to realise is that they themselves can be prosecuted by the police if their vehicle is stolen with the engine running having been left unattended. Insurance for car companies can also refuse the claim for the theft which can leave the motorist in financial trouble.
One option to prevent the loss of a vehicle and reduce the risk of losing cheap car insurance is the use of a tracker stolen recovery system which works in much the same way as an electronic homing device.
The covert transmitter is hidden in one of several dozen available places around the vehicle and works without the use of an aerial so the whereabouts of vehicles can be picked up even if they are in a garage or have been taken abroad.
