Cheap car insurance could be affected by road maintenance

For UK motorists who are looking to keep their cheap car insurance, driving on safe, well-maintained roads is of great importance. As a result, discovering that some local councils are cutting their road maintenance budgets, according to new figures, may raise concern among road users.

The research, which was obtained via the Freedom of Information act, showed reductions of up to £17 million by Kent County Council alone. Other counties budgets to be affected are Bedfordshire, which is down nearly £1.78 million, Surrey, down £1.25 million, and Essex, which is down more than £648,000.

Finding the cheapest car insurance in these areas may increase in difficulty as road maintenance funds dwindle resulting in poor road upkeep and potentially an increase in accidents.

People who are being asked about the problem say that money should be cut from other government departments in order to tackle the road safety issues. Nearly half of those questioned felt state support for the Royal Family should be cut, while two in five said that money for foreign aid should be cut in order to address the issue.

The director behind the company which is responsible for the new figures stated, "This will cause discomfort and inconvenience to drivers, damage to their vehicles and even jeopardise their safety.

"Every day, we hear from our customers that travelling around parts of Britain is becoming a nightmare because of the state of the roads and this is not likely to improve in the foreseeable future."

For UK motorists who want to ensure that they maintain their cheap car insurance, driving on safe roads in a considerate fashion is paramount.
