Car seat calamity in Dorchester
There are just some things you can't claim for on your cheap car insurance, such as an accident caused when your two-year-old undoes the safety belt on his car seat and then opens the door as you drive round a roundabout.
This is just what happened to a mother-of-two from Dorchester recently as she negotiated the roundabout on the A532 in West Stafford.
A police spokesman said, "A car was going round a roundabout when the car door flew open and a child in a child seat flew out on to the road.
"It appears during the journey the child managed to undo the seat belt allowing the seat to come loose.
"As the car negotiated the roundabout the child attached to the seat was ejected in to the road.
"Hospital staff confirmed the child seat has prevented more serious injuries to the child."
A spokesperson for duck2water, online provider of cheap car insurance for all, commented, "This must have been really frightening for the mother of the child.
"She may be able to make a claim for product liability against the manufacturer of the car seat, but it is unlikely her car insurance company will be able to help."
