Cheap car insurance firm discovers cost of being a celeb
A study by a cheap car insurance company has shown just how much more celebrities have to pay for their motor insurance than the rest of us.
Elephant.co.uk, an online car insurance provider which has recently started accepting "celebrity" as an occupation for its policyholders, compared motor insurance quotes for celebs and non-celebs.
For example, had Jade Goody stuck to being a dental nurse, she would be looking at a car insurance quote for her Range Rover which is 22% cheaper than her current celebrity premium.
Mercedes-driving Alex Curran, on the other hand, could be enjoying 14% lower motor insurance quotes if she had never become a celebrity.
However, Elephant.co.uk found Brian Belo to have paid for being a celebrity most out of the three. His Ford car insurance premium has been inflated to a massive 40% more than a data entry clerk of his age would pay.
A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance provider said: "It seems more and more people dream of being famous and aspire to the celebrity lifestyle. We just wanted to point out that being famous does also have its downsides and often there's a price to pay for such fame."
