Cheap car insurance firm comments on eco products

More motorists are starting to plump for "green" motor insurance products, says one cheap car insurance company that offers such policies.

Co-operative Insurance Services (CIS), which offers car insurance with 20% carbon offsetting attached, has revealed that an increasing number of people are considering eco insurance policies when their motor insurance comes up for renewal.

A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance provider said: "I think there are more and more consumers now switching on to green forms of consumerism and I think financial services are one of those areas.

Commenting on CIS' own experience, he remarked: "The take-up has been very positive and the pleasing thing for us is that the take-up has been across the various demographics, it's not been just one age group that's been switched on to green insurance."

The trend towards greener motoring has also been seen in the European sales of hybrid vehicles, which were 25% higher in the first half of 2007 than the previous year.
