Cheap car insurance company reveals odd claims from 2006

Lloyds TSB has revealed some of the stranger reasons why its customers needed to claim on their motor insurance in 2006.

The cheap car insurance company has said that one of their most memorable claims had arisen after a man drove back from his friend's house without realising that the back doors of his car were open. Upon arriving at his own house, he turned into the driveway only for his doors to swing open and crack against the gate posts.

An unfortunate reversing incident proved to be the end of cheap car insurance quotes for another driver, who came back from holiday to find that his car was stuck in reverse. He travelled backwards over his neighbour's garden wall and then down a hill before managing to bring the car to a halt.

Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB, commented on these unfortunate motor insurance claims.

He said: "We may try and anticipate accidents to help make our lives as safe as possible, yet as our postbag shows, we cannot prevent all accidents from happening, no matter how careful we are."
