Cheap car insurance firm polls UK motorists

UK motorists want learner drivers to prove their driving skills on motorways, according to a poll carried out by a cheap car insurance company.

The research, which was conducted by LV=, revealed that a massive 88% motorists feel that it would be safer if new drivers had to drive on a motorway as part of their driving test.

Further, around a quarter of those who took part in the cheap car insurance provider's study stated that those who do not pass the motorway part of their test should not be allowed to drive on these major roads.

A spokesperson for the motor insurance company commented: "We are calling on the government to ensure that novice drivers have some training in motorway driving before they are allowed to drive unaccompanied in this often dangerous environment.

"It is ridiculous that newly licensed drivers are left to teach themselves the skill needed to drive safely on Britain's busiest roads."
