Swindon is safe, says cheap car insurance firm
A cheap car insurance company's research has shown that motorists would be best off parking their cars in Swindon, whilst avoiding Hull at all costs.
UK motor insurance provider Endsleigh Insurance Services used its claims information and policy data to identify those areas where car crime is higher and lower than average.
Swindon, Norwich and Dundee came out as having the lowest rates of car crime, with each having a rate of around 40% lower than the national average.
A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance firm said: "This is great news for Swindon and a clear demonstration that local council and police initiatives, such as the Swindon Community Safety Partnership, are proving effective at driving down car crime."
Endsleigh also revealed the three cities in the UK with the highest rates of car crime as being Hull, Nottingham and Leeds. Hull overshot the national average for vehicle theft by an immense 143.9%.
In light of these findings, Endsleigh is encouraging motorists to ensure that they do all they can to prevent their vehicle being targeted by thieves.
The spokesperson continued: "This means not just taking care of the obvious security measures, such as locking doors and closing windows, installing a car alarm and using a steering-wheel lock, but also employing simple steps such as hiding of removing valuables."
He also urged motorists to remove all Christmas shopping from view as a car piled high with luxurious items can be very tempting for thieves.
