Celebratory lunch marks 10 year anniversary for cheap car insurance company

The cheap car insurance firm Hastings Direct has celebrated its 10th birthday with big party for all of its staff.

Twenty three special employees were invited to have lunch with the board, whilst birthday celebrations - complete with balloons and cake - got underway in the offices.

The employees were rewarded for all their hard work with a Parker Pen, as well as a surprise present picked from a lucky dip.

The chief executive officer of Hastings Direct, Peter Connell, said: "It is great to see the number of staff who have stayed with the company for the entire ten years and we look forward to creating increased career opportunities at all levels throughout the company as we fulfil our ambitions for growth."

Hastings Direct was launched in 1997 with just 27 staff located in two floors of an office based in Bexhill, Sussex. It has now been transformed into a much larger organisation which employs more than 1,000 staff and expects to process more than 2.5 million cheap car insurance quotes in 2007.

The company's success can be seen in the fact that Hastings Direct has been named the Cheapest Car Insurance Provider for over-the-phone motor insurance quotes for three years running.

Mr Connell said: "By working with an extensive panel of some of the most competitive and well-known insurers in the UK we are able to keep premiums low but still offer a good standard of cover."

He added that the 1,700 customers who had been buying cheap car insurance from Hastings Direct since its first year would be rewarded for their loyalty with free car insurance for a year.
